The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a corruption case against a police constable, a Home Guard volunteer, and a private individual for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
The accused, identified as Constable Rajinder Kumar, Home Guard volunteer Ravi Kumar, and Sagar Verma, were arrested in connection with the case. The bribe was allegedly demanded to release an accused involved in a narcotics case.

The complainant, Vijay Kumar, had lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line, alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 200,000 but later agreed to settle for Rs 120,000. The complainant had recorded the conversations with the accused, which were crucial in the investigation.
The Vigilance Bureau is actively investigating the case and is working to apprehend the remaining accused. The department’s actions demonstrate its commitment to eradicating corruption and upholding the principles of transparency and accountability.
