In a continued effort to combat corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Patwari Jaspreet Singh, stationed in Raikot, Ludhiana district. Singh is accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.
A VB spokesperson revealed that Gursewak Singh, a resident of Raikot’s Green City, filed a complaint through the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption helpline. The complaint alleged that Singh demanded the bribe, via his private assistant Laddi, to process a land mutation request.

An investigation verified the allegations. Evidence included witness testimonies and a video recording of the bribe transaction. Based on these findings, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Singh at the VB police station in Ludhiana.
The arrested Patwari will be presented before a court tomorrow. The investigation is ongoing.
