The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing anti-corruption campaign, arrested Sanitation Inspector Gurbinder Singh, stationed at the Municipal Council, Jalalabad, Fazilka district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000.
A state VB spokesperson revealed that the arrest followed a complaint by a Jalalabad resident, who alleged that the accused Inspector demanded Rs. 20,000 to clear bills related to sanitation work carried out in the city. After negotiations, the bribe amount was settled at Rs. 15,000.
Following a preliminary investigation, the VB set up a trap and caught Gurbinder Singh red-handed while accepting the Rs. 15,000 bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

A case has been registered against the Municipal Council employee under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station, Ferozepur Range. The accused will be presented in a competent court tomorrow, and further investigation is underway, the spokesperson added.
