The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) successfully apprehended a Patwari and his accomplice while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 in a sting operation. The Patwari, Mandeep Singh, was posted at Sultanwind-II in Tehsil Amritsar-I.
Complaint and Investigation: The VB initiated an investigation based on a complaint filed by Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Amritsar. The complainant alleged that the Patwari demanded a substantial bribe of Rs. 20,00,000 to facilitate the mutation of a plot. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs. 3,00,000, with an initial payment of Rs. 1,00,000 already made.
Sting Operation: A VB team laid a trap and caught the Patwari and his accomplice red-handed while accepting the remaining bribe amount of Rs. 50,000 in the presence of witnesses.

Legal Action: A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Range Amritsar. The accused will be presented in court for further legal proceedings.
