Chandigarh, September 1, 2025
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing anti-corruption campaign, arrested Amandeep Singh, a Forest Guard and additional Block Incharge at the Forest Range Office, Patiala, red-handed on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,50,000.
According to a VB spokesperson, Amandeep Singh demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for land purchased for a nursing home on Devigarh Road, Patiala. The complainant reported that the bribe was demanded jointly by Amandeep Singh and Swaran Singh, Forest Range Officer, Patiala.

Following a preliminary verification of the complaint, the VB set up a trap and apprehended Amandeep Singh in the presence of two official witnesses. The bribe amount of Rs 1,50,000 was recovered from him on the spot.
A case has been registered against Amandeep Singh under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the VB Police Station, Patiala Range. The co-accused, Swaran Singh, Forest Range Officer, will be arrested soon. Further investigation is underway.
