Punjabi University to Commemorate 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with Devotion

Punjabi University will observe the 350th martyrdom anniversary (Shaheedi Gurpurab) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with deep reverence and respect this year. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh announced that special programs are being planned by the Punjab government, and the university is undertaking significant efforts to mark this centenary with devotion and emotion.
He shared these thoughts during a detailed meeting of a special committee formed for this purpose. Dr. Singh emphasized that Punjabi University, established to promote the Punjabi language, literature, and culture, views commemorating Guru Sahib’s martyrdom centenary as a committed step toward advancing its objectives.

Notably, Dr. Paramvir Singh will serve as the convener of the committee, with members including Dr. Daljit Singh, Dr. Sandeep Kaur, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh, and Dr. Jaswinder Singh Brar. The meeting discussed organizing special events across the university’s departments, constituent colleges, regional centers, neighborhood campuses, and Dr. Balbir Singh Sahit Kendra.
Dr. Paramvir Singh informed that the university is continuously engaged in academic work related to Punjabi and Sikh literature, and a special book titled ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji: Jeevan, Bani te Pramukh Yaadgaaran’ is being prepared to honor this centenary.
