The Department of Zoology and Environmental Sciences at Punjabi University, Patiala, celebrated its 58th Foundation Day today. During the event, students showcased a variety of cultural performances, adding vibrancy to the occasion.

Notably, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh, who is an alumnus of this very department, presided over the program. Sharing memories from his student days, he expressed that reconnecting with his alma mater, particularly this department, feels like returning to his roots—a unique and cherished experience. He highlighted his pride in the department’s continuous progress and noted that it has produced many renowned figures in the field of science. Dr. Singh also encouraged students to stay connected to their roots and strive for excellence.

On this occasion, senior professor and renowned entomologist Dr. Himender Bharti was specially honored for his recent election as a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (FNA).

In his vote of thanks, Department Head Dr. Onkar Singh shed light on the department’s achievements and ongoing activities.
