
–2601 winners win prizes worth ₹1.52 crore

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced the resounding success of the state’s ‘Bill Liao Inam Pao’ scheme on Saturday. The initiative, aimed at promoting tax compliance, has seen overwhelming public participation.
A total of 97,443 bills were uploaded to the Mera Bill app, resulting in 2601 lucky winners sharing a prize pool of Rs 1.52 crore. The scheme has also proven effective in deterring tax evasion, with penalties amounting to Rs 7.92 crore imposed on those found guilty of irregularities in bill issuance. Of this amount, Rs 6.17 crore has already been recovered.

Minister Cheema expressed satisfaction with the distribution process, stating that prizes worth Rs 1.10 crore have been disbursed to 1892 winners, with the remaining Rs 41.39 lakh to be distributed soon.
The ‘Bill Liao Inam Pao’ scheme was introduced to foster a culture of tax compliance and transparency in the state. Minister Cheema emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to continuing such initiatives for the benefit of the people.
