Highlighting Punjab’s strengths, Mann described Mohali as one of the world’s best-planned cities and projected it as the “next Silicon Valley” owing to its proximity to an international airport, abundant skilled talent within a 100-km radius, and rapidly growing IT and innovation ecosystem.
The Chief Minister extended an open invitation to UK companies to participate in the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investors Summit (PPIS) scheduled for March 2025 in Mohali. He positioned Punjab as the “Land of Opportunities,” backed by a stable law-and-order environment that has already attracted several globally acclaimed companies.
Mann underscored Punjab’s investor-friendly ecosystem:
- Ranked No. 1 in Ease of Doing Business in India
- First state to enact the Right to Business Act
- Transparent Single Window Clearance System
- Competitive power tariffs and readily available industrial land
- Thriving Punjabi diaspora eager to invest back home
Key sectors highlighted for UK investment included agro-machinery, food processing, information technology, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Addressing transnational issues, the Chief Minister assured full cooperation on legal matters, including challenges related to cross-border crime, and reiterated the state government’s support for safe and legal migration pathways for Punjab’s youth wishing to study or work in the UK.
The Deputy High Commissioner acknowledged the significant investment potential of the Punjabi diaspora in the UK and the substantial funds they are willing to channel into their home state.
Both sides agreed to intensify engagement, encourage reciprocal visits, and work jointly toward mutual economic growth, enhanced trade, job creation for the youth, and shared prosperity.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a clear roadmap to convert discussions into concrete investments and partnerships in the coming months.
