Technical Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has announced a significant upgrade for Punjab’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Vikram Jeet Singh Sahni.
Bains stated that the department has been working tirelessly to provide quality vocational training to Punjab’s youth. Recognizing the need for modernization, he collaborated with Sahni to adopt six ITIs.
Under the MoU, Sahni will invest approximately Rs. 11 crore in ITIs located in Patiala, Ludhiana, Manikpur Sharif (SAS Nagar), Sunam (Sangrur), and Lalru. These institutes will be connected to local industries to ensure better job placements and apprenticeships for students.
One notable initiative is the introduction of courses for air hostesses, beauty wellness, and junior nurses at Mohali ITI Women, aimed at empowering women in the state.
Bains emphasized that these efforts will create employment opportunities for over ten thousand young people. Additionally, Lalru and Manakpur Sharif ITIs will be developed as drone academies, positioning Punjab at the forefront of drone technology.

The minister further announced that an ITI Excellence Center in Ludhiana will be launched in November.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government has been committed to expanding vocational training in Punjab, as evidenced by the increase in ITI seats from 28,000 to 35,000. This initiative aims to address unemployment and combat the drug problem in the state.
