PUNSUP Inspectors Arrested for Taking Rs. 1 Lakh Bribe

In a significant development in their ongoing anti-corruption drive, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) apprehended two PUNSUP Inspectors on Tuesday. Jaspal Singh and Praveen Kumar, both posted in Barnala, were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,00,000.

According to a spokesperson for the VB, the arrests came after a complaint filed by Harwinder Singh, a resident of Dhanaula town in Barnala. Mr. Singh alleged that the inspectors demanded the bribe and threatened him with a hefty recovery notice for a supposed wheat shortage during last season’s transportation.Vigilance Bureau Busts Bribery Attempt in Barnala

Following a preliminary investigation, the VB set a trap. Both inspectors were apprehended while accepting the bribe money from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at the VB police station in Patiala. They will be presented in court tomorrow, and further investigation is underway.
