Rahul Dravid Honored with CEAT Lifetime Achievement Award

-Rohit Sharma Named Men’s International Cricketer of the Year

Indian cricket team’s experienced batsman Rohit Sharma was awarded the Men’s International Cricketer of the Year at the CEAT Cricket Awards on Wednesday. Virat Kohli bagged the award for the best ODI batsman, while former coach Rahul Dravid was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Rahul Dravid, the former head coach of the Indian team, was bestowed with the CEAT Cricket Awards Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the sport. The announcement of Dravid’s name at the event on Wednesday was met with a standing ovation from the audience. Dravid stepped down as the head coach of the Indian team after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in June. He was associated with the team for nearly three years. India clinched the title in the shortest format of the game for the second time, defeating South Africa.

Several Indian players won awards at the CEAT Cricket Awards, including Rohit and Virat. Here’s a list of the winners:

Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, was awarded the best ODI batsman of the year at the award ceremony. He scored 1377 runs in 2023, including six centuries and eight half-centuries. He had a phenomenal performance in the ODI World Cup in 2023 and became the first batsman to score 50 centuries in the white-ball format. He scored 765 runs in 11 matches in the World Cup.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the award for the best international cricketer of the year for his excellent performance across all formats. Rohit scored 1800 international runs in 2023, including 1255 runs in ODIs. Fast bowler Mohammad Shami won the award for the best ODI bowler of the year. Shami bowled exceptionally well in the ODI World Cup, taking 24 wickets in just seven matches.
