Rashid Khan’s Absence Major Blow for Afghanistan Test Squad

Patiala, 31 August (Sports Desk)

Afghanistan’s upcoming Test match against New Zealand will be played without the leadership and spin prowess of Rashid Khan. The star leg-spinner has been ruled out of the match due to medical advice following a back operation last year.

As confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s Chief Executive Naseeb Khan, Rashid’s doctors have recommended a year-long break from Test cricket to allow his back to fully recover. However, the Board remains hopeful that he will be available for the two-Test series against Zimbabwe in December.

Rashid’s absence is a significant setback for Afghanistan, especially considering his impressive performance in the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. While he will be missed in the longer format, he is expected to return for the three-match ODI series against South Africa next month.
