RGNUL Celebrates Sixth Convocation: A Milestone of Excellence in Legal Education

Patiala, 15 February

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, hosted its 6th Convocation on February 15, 2025 , marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of its students. The ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant , Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Visitor of RGNUL, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu , Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court and Chancellor of RGNUL. They conferred degrees upon 300 students across multiple programs, including three batches of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) , three batches of LL.M. , as well as LL.D. and Ph.D. scholars .

The event also saw the presence of Justice Arun Palli , Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court and Member of the General Council of RGNUL, who added to the solemnity and prestige of the occasion.

A Celebration of Academic Excellence

The convocation began with a warm welcome address by Professor (Dr.) Jai S. Singh , Vice-Chancellor of RGNUL, who extended his gratitude to the distinguished guests, proud parents, and graduating students. He presented a comprehensive report highlighting the university’s achievements, growth, and contributions to legal education over the years.

In his Convocation Address , Justice Surya Kant emphasized the pivotal role of the graduating students in shaping the future of the legal profession. He remarked:

“Your generation enters the legal profession at a transformative moment in our nation’s history. The convergence of technology, social change, and legal evolution presents unprecedented opportunities for those who are prepared. Your education has not only imparted knowledge but has also honed your ability to think critically, act ethically, and adapt continuously. These skills, coupled with the resilience you’ve demonstrated during your academic journey, position you not just to practice law, but to shape its future direction.”

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu , in his Chancellor’s Address , underscored the profound responsibility that comes with being a legal professional. He said:

“Your actions, decisions, and words have the power to shape society, impact lives, and uphold the trust placed in you by your clients, the public, and the courts. With the knowledge and training you have received at this esteemed institution, you are well-equipped to face the challenges ahead. I have no doubt that you will not only excel but also leave an indelible mark on the legal fraternity.”

The ceremony also celebrated exceptional academic accomplishments through the conferment of prestigious awards:
