Patiala, April 20
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, triumphantly concluded the 13th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition on April 19–20, 2025. The two-day event saw 22 teams from prestigious institutions, including NLSIU Bengaluru, NLU Delhi, NLU Jodhpur, NLU Odisha, and JGLS Sonepat, compete in a showcase of legal prowess and advocacy.
Competition Highlights
- Semi-Final Rounds (April 19): Teams from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur, Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Sonepat, and Institute of Law, Nirma University advanced to the semi-finals. These rounds were judged by eminent advocates and academicians, including Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Ranga, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, and Dr. Rajat Dixit.
- Final Round (April 20): The Institute of Law, Nirma University and JGLS, Sonepat faced off in a gripping final. Nirma University emerged as the winner, with JGLS securing the runner-up position.
- Awards:
- Best Speaker (Preliminary Rounds): Uday Suravaram, NLSIU Bengaluru
- Best Memorial: National Law University, Odisha
Distinguished Judges and Guests
The final round on April 20 was presided over by an esteemed panel:
- Dr. Mandeep Mittal, Additional District Judge, Chandigarh, who emphasized the importance of mooting and the need to explore constitutional reforms in Indian criminal jurisprudence.
- Prof. (Dr.) Anu Mehra, Distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, who inspired participants with practical advice for excelling in national and international moot court competitions.
- Senior Advocate Amarjit Khurana, Punjab and Haryana High Court, who shared her journey as a law student, highlighting the value of early mooting exposure.

At the closing ceremony, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jai S. Singh welcomed the judges and motivated participants with insights on honing advocacy skills and legal acumen. Dr. Ivneet Walia, Registrar (Officiating), commended the participants for their dedication and enthusiastic engagement throughout the competition.
Collaborative Effort
The event’s success was a collective effort by RGNUL’s student community, guided by the Moot Court Committee under Faculty Coordinator Dr. Jaswinder Kaur. Faculty members, including Dr. Shiva Satish Sharda, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Dr. Basant Singh, Mr. Siddhartha Fuller, Mr. Anubhav Kumar, and Dr. Ishita Sharma, also contributed to the event’s seamless execution. Dr. Kaur praised the student committee for their tireless efforts in ensuring the competition’s success.
