A Proud Moment for MRSAFPI
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) celebrated another milestone as two of its former cadets, Mohinder Singh Sekhon and Vinay Kaushik, were commissioned as officers in the Indian Navy during the Passing Out Parade (POP) at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Kerala, on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral V Srinivas, AVSM, NM, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command.
Journey of the New Officers
Punjab’s Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister, Mr. Aman Arora, shared the achievement, noting that both cadets hail from SAS Nagar (Mohali). Mohinder Singh Sekhon and Vinay Kaushik underwent two years of training at MRSAFPI, followed by three years of rigorous training at the National Defence Academy (NDA), and an additional year of specialized training at the INA. They are now set to serve in the Indian Navy.

Mohinder Singh Sekhon’s journey is particularly inspiring, having overcome the loss of his parents in childhood through sheer determination and hard work to achieve his dream. Vinay Kaushik, on the other hand, comes from a supportive family—his father, Sanjay Kumar, is the Sectional Head at newspaper, and his mother, Rekha Sharma, is a homemaker.
Minister’s Congratulations
Aman Arora extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly commissioned officers, praising their remarkable achievement. He encouraged them to continue making both the nation and Punjab proud through their service.
MRSAFPI’s Legacy of Excellence
Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, also congratulated the cadets, highlighting that with this commissioning, a total of 172 cadets from the institute have now joined the Indian Armed Forces as officers, including 20 in the Indian Navy. He further noted the success of other cadets, such as Arshdeep Singh (All India Rank 3rd) and Karan Kaushik (All India Rank 71st) in the AFCAT merit list, who are awaiting their call-up letters to join the Air Force Academy.
A Bright Future Ahead
The commissioning of Mohinder and Vinay underscores MRSAFPI’s role in grooming young talent for the armed forces, contributing to the nation’s defense while bringing pride to Punjab. Their success serves as an inspiration for future aspirants at the institute.
