Samoa Batter Shatters T20I Record with 39-Run Over

A historic moment unfolded in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A on Tuesday as Samoa’s Darius Visser broke the world record for the most runs scored in a single over of a T20I match.

Visser unleashed a barrage of sixes against Vanuatu bowler Nalin Nipiko, amassing an incredible 39 runs in the 15th over. This surpassed the previous record of 36 runs held by cricket luminaries like Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard.

The 28-year-old’s innings was a masterclass in power hitting, as he finished with 14 sixes and a blistering score of 132 from just 62 deliveries. His century was a landmark achievement for Samoa cricket, making him the first player from the nation to reach triple figures in international cricket.

Visser’s heroics propelled Samoa to victory and kept their hopes alive for qualifying for the next T20 World Cup in 2026.
