The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal group) has been conducting a membership drive over the past three months. Following this campaign, the party held a significant meeting today, April 12, 2025, at Teja Singh Samundri Hall in the Sri Darbar Sahib complex, Amritsar, where a new president was elected.
The meeting, organized after the conclusion of the three-month membership drive, saw the party unanimously re-elect Sukhbir Singh Badal as its president. According to sources, Balwinder Singh Bhundar proposed Sukhbir Badal’s name through a resolution, which was supported by Paramjit Sarna.

Notably, Sukhbir Badal first became the party president in December 2008. He resigned from the post on November 16, 2024, and his resignation was accepted on January 10, 2025.
