In a major breakthrough in Punjab’s ongoing efforts to ensure state security, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Malerkotla Police arrested two individuals, including a 31-year-old woman, for allegedly leaking sensitive information to an official at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced on Sunday.
The arrested individuals, identified as Guzala and Yameen Mohamad, both from Malerkotla, were found in possession of two mobile phones. This operation follows the recent arrest by Amritsar Rural Police of two others, Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih, for sharing sensitive details and photographs of Army Cantonment areas and Air Bases with Pakistan’s intelligence agency.

DGP Yadav revealed that initial investigations indicate the accused were receiving payments via online transactions for sharing classified information. They maintained regular contact with a Pakistan-based handler and facilitated fund transfers to other local operatives as instructed. “This operation is a critical step in dismantling cross-border espionage networks and underscores our commitment to national security,” Yadav said, adding that further probes will focus on tracing financial transactions and identifying additional network operatives.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malerkotla Gagan Ajit Singh detailed that Guzala was apprehended based on reliable intelligence for leaking sensitive Indian Army movement details to the handler. Her interrogation led to the arrest of Yameen Mohamad, identified as a co-conspirator. Guzala confessed to sharing confidential Army activity details with the Pakistan High Commission official in exchange for money, receiving ₹30,000 in two UPI transactions (₹10,000 and ₹20,000).
SSP Singh confirmed that the implicated official has been identified and named in the First Information Report (FIR). The case, registered as FIR No. 88 dated May 8, 2025, at Police Station City-1 Malerkotla, invokes Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act.
