Tamil Nadu native Ulhas Satyanarayan has etched his name in Indian basketball history by becoming the first Indian player to compete in the Serbian Basketball League. The point guard has signed a contract with Novi Pazar Salamander for the 2024-25 season, marking a significant milestone for the sport in India.
The Serbian league, known for its high intensity and competitiveness, is home to several players who represented the country at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they clinched the bronze medal. Competing against such elite talent will undoubtedly be a challenging yet invaluable experience for Satyanarayan.
Prior to his Serbian venture, the 26-year-old gained international experience playing in leagues in Moldova and Malta. His journey to professional basketball began while pursuing a business management degree at Westminster University, where he captained the men’s team to their first championship in seven years.
