Punjab Launches 21st Livestock Census

Chandigarh/Sri Muktsar Sahib, November 23

Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian has launched the 21st Livestock Census in the state from Sri Muktsar Sahib district.

  • Comprehensive Coverage: The census will cover 16 different species of animals and poultry.
  • Women’s Role in Focus: For the first time, the census will recognize the significant role of women in animal husbandry.
  • Digital Census: The census will be conducted digitally, using a mobile app to collect data on breeds and other characteristics.
  • Detailed Data Collection: Information on farmers’ dependence on livestock, poultry, and animal husbandry implements will be gathered.
  • Pet Dogs Included: Even pet dogs will be counted, categorized by breed.
  • Dedicated Team: A team of officers, including nodal officers, supervisors, and enumerators, has been deployed to conduct the census.
