Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian has launched the 21st Livestock Census in the state from Sri Muktsar Sahib district.

- Comprehensive Coverage: The census will cover 16 different species of animals and poultry.
- Women’s Role in Focus: For the first time, the census will recognize the significant role of women in animal husbandry.
- Digital Census: The census will be conducted digitally, using a mobile app to collect data on breeds and other characteristics.
- Detailed Data Collection: Information on farmers’ dependence on livestock, poultry, and animal husbandry implements will be gathered.
- Pet Dogs Included: Even pet dogs will be counted, categorized by breed.
- Dedicated Team: A team of officers, including nodal officers, supervisors, and enumerators, has been deployed to conduct the census.
