Chandigarh, January 23
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Head Constable Nachattar Singh, posted at the 5th Commando Battalion in Bathinda, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000. The arrest was made following a complaint from HC Parminder Singh, who alleged that CDO Tarsem Singh demanded the bribe to help him in a departmental inquiry related to a two-year permanent forfeiture of his job.

While HC Nachattar Singh was caught red-handed accepting the bribe, CDO Tarsem Singh managed to evade arrest.
A case has been registered against both accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Bathinda Range. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding CDO.
