The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested a Data Entry Operator, Gurdeep Singh, from the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.
The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a local resident, Amandeep Singh Chandok, who had filed a complaint with the VB. Chandok alleged that Gurdeep Singh demanded the bribe to facilitate the submission of nomination papers for the panchayat elections.
The VB conducted a thorough investigation, including recording phone calls between the accused and the complainant. Based on the evidence, a case has been registered against Gurdeep Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
