The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Palwinder Singh, Building Inspector of the Municipal Corporation Bathinda, and Honey Munjal, an Architect, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000.
According to a VB spokesperson, the arrest followed a complaint filed by Sandeep Singh, a resident of Burj Mehma village in Bathinda district. The complainant alleged that Building Inspector Palwinder Singh, through Architect Honey Munjal, demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000 for approving the plans for a new colony being developed in Bathinda. The complainant further stated that the Inspector had demanded a total of Rs. 80,000 for three cases, threatening to raise objections otherwise.

Based on this complaint, a VB team from the Bathinda unit laid a trap and arrested Architect Honey Munjal red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses. Subsequently, Building Inspector Palwinder Singh was also arrested.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both accused at the VB Police Station, Bathinda Range. Further investigation is underway.
