The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested a Patwari, Tejinder Pal Singh alias Bhatti, and his assistant, Surinder Singh, for demanding a bribe of Rs. 1,20,000.
According to a VB spokesperson, the duo was apprehended following a complaint by Gian Chand, a resident of Shaktinagar, Derabassi. Chand alleged that the Patwari’s accomplice had demanded a bribe of Rs. 1,50,000 to correct a land mutation record from 2002, with the final amount settled at Rs. 1,20,000. The complainant recorded the conversation with the accused as evidence.

A VB investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act being registered against both individuals. They will be produced in court tomorrow, and further investigations are underway.
