Vigilance Bureau Arrests Police Officer for Bribery

Chandigarh, November 8

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a corruption case against an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a Senior Constable, both posted at the CIA Staff in Malout, Muktsar district. The accused were caught demanding a bribe of Rs. 60,000 from a drug trafficker.

The complainant alleged that the police officials demanded the bribe to avoid registering a false drug case against him. The Vigilance Bureau conducted a thorough investigation and found evidence of the corrupt practices.

Senior Constable Gurpreet Singh has been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend the ASI.
