Vigilance Bureau Arrests PSPCL Junior Engineer for Accepting Rs 10,000 Bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Jarnail Singh, a Junior Engineer (JE) with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), caught in the act of accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe. The arrest occurred in Kotkapura, Faridkot district, as part of the VB’s continuous efforts to combat corruption across the state.

According to an official VB spokesperson, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by a resident of Kothe Chahal Singh, Faridkot. The complainant reported that the JE had demanded Rs 20,000 to shift a tubewell connection and install a domestic power meter at an acquaintance’s residence. After discussions, the JE consented to receive the bribe in two installments.

Following verification of the allegations, the VB’s Ferozpur range team organized a sting operation. The JE was caught red-handed accepting the first installment of Rs 10,000 from the complainant, with two official witnesses present at the scene.

A case has been filed against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Ferozpur Range. The JE is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, and the investigation remains ongoing.
