Chandigarh, 20 July

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has registered a case against officials of the Municipal Council (MC) Nabha and a contractor for allegedly embezzling Rs 1.84 crore of public funds meant for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.

According to a VB spokesperson, a thorough investigation revealed that the accused had misappropriated the funds by creating fake bills for development works within a span of just six days in November 2018. Despite receiving funds for the ‘Housing for All’ scheme, no actual development work was carried out, and the money was siphoned off.
