Vigilance Bureau Busts Rice Mill for Misappropriation

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has registered a criminal case against four partners of Singla Food Products, a rice mill located in Bhawanigarh, Sangrur district. The mill is accused of misappropriating 14 wagons of paddy, causing significant financial loss to the government.

  • Misappropriation: The rice mill, under a contract with the Punjab State Procurement Corporation (PUNSUP), was responsible for storing and milling paddy. However, a shortage of 14 wagons of paddy was detected during an inspection.
  • Fake Certificate: The mill owners presented a fraudulent certificate from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to cover up the shortage.
  • Criminal Charges: The four partners of the rice mill have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy.

The VB is actively investigating the matter to uncover any further irregularities and potential involvement of other individuals.
