
Chandigarh, April 2:
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested Jasveer Singh, a Lineman with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), stationed at the North Division in Patiala and a resident of Jhill village in the district, while he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
An official spokesperson of the VB revealed that the arrest followed a complaint filed by a Patiala resident. The complainant had approached the VB, alleging that Jasveer Singh demanded the bribe in exchange for installing a new domestic electricity meter at his residence.

The spokesperson explained that after conducting a preliminary verification of the complaint, the VB set up a trap. The accused was apprehended in the act of accepting the Rs 10,000 bribe from the complainant, with two official witnesses present at the scene. The bribe money was recovered from his possession by VB personnel.
A case has been registered against Jasveer Singh under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Patiala Range. The spokesperson added that further investigations are underway to determine if additional individuals are involved in the matter.
