“Vigilance Sting Success: Senior Constable Held for Bribery”

Chandigarh, April 25,

Continuing its crackdown on corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Senior Constable Vikram Sharma, posted at Police Station Jaito in Faridkot district, while he was accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.

According to an official spokesperson, the arrest was made following a complaint by a resident of Jaito tehsil in Faridkot. The complainant stated that a dispute had been reported against him, after which the accused constable brought him along with his Alto car to the Jaito police station. Although the matter was later settled between both parties, the constable allegedly kept the complainant’s car at the police station and demanded ₹5,000 for its release. The complainant also recorded the conversation in which the bribe was demanded.
