Patiala, January 26

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today vowed to give a decisive reply to the forces threatening the state’s peace, unity, and harmony. Addressing the gathering at Polo Ground in Patiala during the 76th Republic Day celebrations, the Chief Minister stated that under no circumstances would divisive agendas be allowed to succeed.

Speaking after hoisting the National Flag, Mann emphasized that Punjab, the land of saints, gurus, and martyrs, has always stood as a beacon of communal harmony and brotherhood. He assured that the hard-earned peace in the state would not be disrupted and called on the public to join hands with the government to safeguard Punjab’s prosperity and unity.

Mann condemned forces attempting to sow division, asserting that their plans would fail. “Punjab’s soil is so fertile that it can grow anything, but it does not allow the seeds of hatred to sprout,” he said, adding that the state’s social fabric is deeply rooted in harmony.

The Chief Minister highlighted how some elements are trying to disrupt the peace but expressed pride that Punjabis have responded by strengthening ties of unity and goodwill. Mann also paid tribute to the Indian Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, which came into effect on January 26, 1950, transforming India into a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.

Reflecting on the country’s democratic journey over the past 75 years, Mann noted how India’s democracy has grown stronger with every passing day, as citizens exercised their voting rights fearlessly. “It is thanks to the sacrifices of our brave ancestors that we live in a sovereign nation today,” he said.

The Chief Minister recalled the immense sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters and soldiers in defending the country’s sovereignty during wars in 1947, 1962, 1965, 1971, and the Kargil conflict. He assured that Punjab and its people remain committed to defending the nation’s honor and sovereignty.
