CHANDIGARH, April 9:
In a significant step toward promoting and preserving homeopathy, as envisioned by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced the establishment of a Government Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana district. The announcement came on World Homeopathy Day, observed annually on April 10 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.
The declaration was made at a state-level event hosted by the Punjab Homeopathy Department at Municipal Bhawan in Chandigarh.

Highlighting the need to safeguard and advance homeopathy, Dr. Balbir Singh urged homeopathic doctors and experts to lead efforts in protecting this age-old medicinal system. “This college will act as a cornerstone institution to spread homeopathic treatment throughout Punjab,” he stated, while lauding Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for his advocacy of the project during his time as a Lok Sabha MP.
Dr. Balbir Singh assured comprehensive support to the Homeopathy Department, outlining plans to elevate the college to a postgraduate institution in the future. He also committed to filling vacant positions and providing financial aid to enhance the department’s infrastructure.
The event featured insights from distinguished homeopathy experts Dr. AS Mann and Dr. Avtar Singh, who discussed recent advancements and medical initiatives in the field.
These efforts are set to elevate the Homeopathy Department’s role in healthcare, adopting a multi-faceted strategy to ensure its growth and impact.
Notable attendees included Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul, AYUSH Commissioner Dilraj Singh, Punjab Homeopathic Council Chairman Dr. TP Singh, Director of Ayurveda Dr. Ravi Kumar Dumra, as well as District Homeopathic Officers (DHOs), Homeopathic Medical Officers (HMOs), and staff from across Punjab. The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Harinder Pal Singh, Director of the Punjab Homeopathy Department.
