The youth of Punjab have expressed strong support for Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s initiative to offer government jobs based solely on merit.
Manish Sharma, a recent graduate, shared that he completed his master’s degree in 2021 and had been struggling to find a government job ever since. He noted that while jobs in the state were previously sold, the current administration has completely changed the landscape, allowing youth to secure positions based on merit. He expressed his relief at not having to go abroad for work, as he and his classmates have now secured government jobs.

Another young man from Sherpur Sodhian village near Dhuri recounted his 14 years of work in a private firm. He remarked that the indifference of previous governments had left him hopeless about ever landing a government job. However, the new administration has instilled hope as merit-based employment has become a reality.
Maninder Kaur, a former private teacher from Ludhiana, described her selection as a dream come true. She noted a visible reverse trend in the state, with students returning from abroad in the hope of securing jobs. She mentioned that hundreds of such students are now receiving coaching at her Ludhiana center after returning from foreign countries.
Komal Sagar, who had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time and had taken several competitive exams, expressed her gratitude for the transparent recruitment process. She explained how previous regimes failed to announce exam results, causing frustration among the youth. However, the current administration’s transparent approach has led to a significant shift, with youth now securing jobs based on merit.
Randhir Singh, a wrestler, shared his story of being selected for the Punjab Police in 2008, only to be removed in 2012. After moving to the US and Canada, he returned to Punjab and now runs a wrestling academy. He recently secured a job as a Patwari without any recommendation or bribe, attributing this change to the leadership of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Harpreet, another young man who had completed IELTS to migrate abroad, expressed his frustration with previous governments’ neglect of youth employment. However, after the new administration took office, he decided to take a government job exam before moving abroad. Thanks to the transparent process, he secured a government job and now looks forward to his future in Punjab.
Sarabjit Singh, a former Indian Army serviceman, also shared his appreciation for the new government’s merit-based hiring practices. After 18 years in the military, he joined the state government and praised the current administration for bringing about a revolutionary change by offering government jobs to deserving candidates.
