
Bulldozers Demolish Illegal Properties of 29 Drug Smugglers
Seizures Include 81 kg Heroin, 970 kg Poppy Husk, 51 kg Opium, and Over 7 Lakh Banned Drugs
Cabinet Sub-Committee to Review Progress in Meeting on March 14

The Punjab government’s relentless campaign against drugs, Yudh Nashian Virudh , has achieved remarkable success within just two weeks. Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema , Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on the campaign and Punjab Finance Minister, announced today that 1259 FIRs have been filed , and 1758 individuals have been arrested since March 1 under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh, Finance Minister Cheema highlighted the significant strides made in dismantling the drug trade. He stated that authorities have used bulldozers to demolish the illegal properties of 29 drug smugglers , sending a clear and stern message against the illicit drug trade. Additionally, ₹60 lakh in drug money has been recovered during this period.

Major Seizures Under the Campaign
Cheema revealed that a substantial quantity of narcotics has been confiscated, including:
- 81 kg Heroin
- 970 kg Poppy Husk
- 51 kg Opium
- 10 kg Ganja
- 4 kg Charas
- 1 kg Ice
- 7,06,714 banned pharmaceuticals
Furthermore, law enforcement agencies have seized 22 two-wheelers, 4 cars, 12 pistols, and 8 mobile phones from those arrested in connection with these cases.
Beyond Enforcement: Community Engagement and Awareness
Emphasizing the importance of collective societal effort, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stressed that the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign is not just about enforcement but also focuses on community engagement and preventive measures. To this end, a concerted drive has been launched to involve students and village panchayats in the fight against drug abuse.
So far, 1028 meetings with students and 122 SAMPARK meetings with community members have been conducted to raise awareness and encourage active participation in combating the menace of drugs.
Upcoming Cabinet Sub-Committee Meeting
To further enhance the effectiveness of the campaign, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced that the Yudh Nashian Virudh Cabinet Sub-Committee will hold a review meeting on March 14 . The meeting will assess ongoing efforts and devise strategies to make the campaign even more impactful and swift.
