Zonal Patiala-1 Sports Tournament Begins, Over 1,500 athletes to participate in 18 to 20 sports

The Zonal Patiala-1 Sports Tournament commenced on Tuesday at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Multipurpose, Patiala, under the leadership of Zonal President-cum-Principal Vijay Kapoor and Zonal Secretary Amninder Singh Baba.

Sharing details, Vijay Kapoor and Amninder Singh Baba announced that this is the 69th Zonal Tournament, featuring approximately 1,500 athletes from 80 to 85 government, aided, and private schools under the Patiala-1 zone. The tournament will include 18 to 20 sports, such as basketball, volleyball, kabaddi (national style), badminton, chess, kho-kho, cricket, football, boxing, and other indoor and outdoor games.

The event will host matches for girls in the 14, 17, and 19 age groups on August 19, 20, and 21, and for指標 for boys in the same age groups on August 22, 23, and 25. Addressing the students at the opening ceremony, Vijay Kapoor and Amninder Singh Baba congratulated them on the tournament’s launch and encouraged them to play with teamwork and sportsmanship. They also urged physical education teachers to perform their duties diligently and impartially.

They emphasized that all participating staff and athletes deserve appreciation. They further stated that students should actively participate in sports alongside their studies, as it fosters teamwork, resilience, and a strong work ethic, which are valuable throughout life.
