₹10 Lakh Forensic Report Row: Congress Calls for Independent Probe and CM’s Resignation
Chandigarh, June 24
Senior Punjab Congress leader, former MP and Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla, along with other senior Congress leaders, today launched a strong attack on the AAP-led Punjab Government, demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over what they described as a serious attempt to conceal allegations related to an act of sacrilege.
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Congress leaders alleged that the Chief Minister had lost the moral authority to continue in office. They claimed that the matter had become one of the most serious controversies in Punjab’s recent political history, alleging that state machinery was misused to shield the Chief Minister from public and religious accountability.
The Congress leadership alleged that following the directive issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on June 15 regarding a viral video, senior Punjab Police officials were sent to Gurugram using public funds to obtain a favourable forensic report. They further claimed that a private forensic laboratory was allegedly offered ₹10 lakh to produce a report that would dismiss the allegations and protect the Chief Minister.
According to Congress leaders, the gravity of the matter has been reinforced by the registration of an FIR by Haryana Police, which reportedly relates to attempts to influence a cyber expert into preparing a forensic report favourable to the Chief Minister.
The party further stated that the issue has become a test of the Punjab Police’s credibility and impartiality. Congress leaders argued that the recently enacted anti-sacrilege law should be applied uniformly and not selectively. They demanded that the law be invoked in the present case and called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations.

Concluding the press conference, Congress leaders alleged that Punjab is facing a constitutional and moral crisis, claiming that a sitting Chief Minister stands accused of using government machinery for personal protection. They appealed to the public and the global Guru Nanak Naam Lewa Sangat to hold the government accountable and demanded strict action against all officials allegedly involved in the matter.
The Congress leadership unanimously called for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s resignation, a fair and independent investigation, and legal action against those found responsible.
