Renowned music composer A.R. Rahman created history by performing live at the Attari Border for the first time during a special Beating Retreat Ceremony. The event, titled “Jai Ho – A Musical Salute to the Bravehearts,” attracted thousands of spectators at the Joint Check Post (JCP) Stadium and also featured the unveiling of music from filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming movie Main Vaapas Aaunga.
The grand evening paid tribute to the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of the Border Security Force (BSF) and India’s armed forces. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, singer-entrepreneur Ananya Birla, actor Vedang Raina, and producer Mohit Choudhary welcomed the audience and dedicated the film’s music album to the nation’s bravehearts

Music, Patriotism and Cinema Blend Together
A.R. Rahman opened the performance with a soulful rendition of “Chanda Suraj Lakhon Taare” before introducing songs from Main Vaapas Aaunga, a film inspired by stories connected to the Partition era.
Artists including Vedang Raina and Nilanjana Ghosh performed Maskara, while Mohit Chauhan, Pooja Tiwari, and Nargis enthralled the audience with Ishq Mastana. The highlight of the evening came when Rahman concluded the show with his iconic patriotic anthem “Maa Tujhe Salaam,” turning the venue into a powerful celebration of national pride and unity.
Imtiaz Ali Calls It a Historic Moment
Speaking on the occasion, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali described the event as a unique and meaningful tribute to India’s national spirit, the BSF, the Indian Army, and the values of unity and love.
He said that the themes celebrated during the event closely reflect the emotional essence of Main Vaapas Aaunga. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina in key roles. The music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, while the lyrics have been written by Irshad Kamil.
The historic performance also generated excitement ahead of the film’s theatrical release on June 12, 2026. Produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment, and Window Seat Films, the movie aims to bring emotionally rich Partition-era stories to audiences across the country.
