CM Mann Unveils ₹350 Crore Development Bonanza for Amritsar Residents

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dedicated a slew of transformative projects worth approximately ₹350 crore to the residents of Amritsar on Saturday, marking a significant step toward enhancing infrastructure and educational opportunities in the holy city. The Chief Minister inaugurated newly constructed roads, upgraded link roads, and six modern libraries, reinforcing the state’s commitment to development and intellectual growth.

Project Highlights

Paying homage to the sacred land of Amritsar, CM Mann outlined the details of projects worth ₹346.57 crore:

  • New Roads: ₹56.36 crore invested in constructing new surfaced roads across Amritsar district, executed by the Punjab Mandi Board and Public Works Department.

  • Upgraded Road Infrastructure: ₹287.01 crore allocated for enhancing existing roads to improve connectivity and accessibility.

  • Six New Libraries: ₹3.20 crore spent on establishing and renovating libraries across various Assembly constituencies to promote education and intellectual development.

Rural Road Upgradation

CM Mann emphasized the Punjab Government’s focus on improving rural connectivity. With a total of 64,878 km of link roads in the state, repairs were previously conducted every six years. In a historic move, the government has now introduced ongoing maintenance for the next five years alongside repairs, ensuring sustained road quality and accessibility for rural communities.

Modern Libraries for Knowledge Empowerment

The Chief Minister inaugurated six libraries built by the Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹3.20 crore, designed to provide students with access to world-class resources:

  • Amritsar West Constituency:

    • Chehrata Library renovated at ₹32.58 lakh.

    • Old DC Office Library upgraded at ₹31.41 lakh.

  • Other Constituencies: One library each established in Amritsar North, Central, East, and South constituencies, each costing ₹64 lakh.

These state-of-the-art libraries are equipped with computers, internet access, quality literature, and study materials for competitive exams. CM Mann envisioned these facilities as hubs of knowledge, inspiring students to pursue their dreams and elevate their intellectual capabilities. “These libraries will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our youth by providing access to global knowledge and resources,” he said.
