The Gatka team of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, secured an impressive second position in the National Gatka Competitions organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib.
The three-day championship was held to mark the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and witnessed strong participation from teams representing Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and various SGPC-run educational institutions.
The World University team delivered a spirited performance throughout the tournament, earning widespread praise for their skill, discipline, and display of traditional Sikh martial art. Their achievement was celebrated across the university campus.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh hailed the team’s success as a true reflection of the university’s commitment to holistic development, cultural preservation, and the Guru-inspired values of courage, discipline, and self-confidence.

Dean Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing congratulated the players and coaching staff, describing the silver medal as a proud moment that showcases teamwork, dedication, and deep respect for Sikh martial heritage. He expressed hope that this success would inspire other students to excel in sports and cultural activities.
The closing ceremony was graced by prominent SGPC dignitaries including Internal Committee Member S. Daljit Singh Bhindar, Members Bhai Amarjeet Singh Chawla and S. Avtar Singh Ria, Dharam Parchar Committee Member Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhiasi, OSD S. Satbir Singh Dhami, Secretary S. Pratap Singh, Dharam Parchar Secretary S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, and several other officials, managers of Sri Darbar Sahib and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, and college administrators.
