Fatehgarh Sahib, September 10
More than three and a half years have passed since the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power in Punjab, raising high expectations among government employees. However, the government has failed to meet these expectations, leaving employees deeply disappointed. Harpal Singh Sodhi, District President and a prominent leader from Fatehgarh Sahib, shared with the press that thousands of contractual employees under the National Health Mission (NHM) in the Health Department have been serving diligently since 2008. Despite 17 years of service, none of these NHM employees have been regularized, nor have they received equal pay for equal work.

Sodhi highlighted that some employees have even started retiring at the age of 58 without any benefits, returning home empty-handed. The department has failed to provide retirees with gratuity or other entitled benefits. This has led to a complete loss of trust in the government among employees. In protest, several NHM cadres have begun approaching the Honorable High Court, filing petitions to demand salary increments, gratuity, and other rightful benefits.
The primary reason for this legal recourse is the recent success of some NHM cadres, who secured financial benefits through favorable High Court rulings. These decisions have instilled hope among employees, encouraging them to seek justice through the court for their long-pending demands.
