Honoring Legacy: President Murmu at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Event

-Urges President to grace historic celebrations at Sri Anandpur Sahib

New Delhi/Chandigarh, October 27

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday invited President Droupadi Murmu to participate in the statewide events commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ‘Hind Di Chadar’, at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

During a meeting at Rashtrapati Bhawan, the CM shared a detailed program schedule and requested the President to attend as per her convenience. Modalities for the visit will be finalized soon.

Mann informed the President that the Punjab Government has planned grand, reverential events across the state, with the main celebrations at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Key Highlights of the Commemorative Events:

  • Commemorations began Saturday with Ardas at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Delhi, followed by a grand Kirtan Darbar at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.
  • November 1–18: Light-and-sound shows in all districts showcasing Guru Ji’s life and teachings.
  • Kirtan Darbars in towns/cities visited by Guru Sahib; grand darbar in Srinagar (J&K) on November 18.
  • November 19: Nagar Kirtan from Srinagar with participation of Kashmiri Pandits.
  • November 20: Three Nagar Kirtans from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur — all to culminate at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
  • November 23–25: Mega events at Sri Anandpur Sahib, including:
    • Tent City ‘Chakk Nanaki’ for pilgrims
    • Interfaith conference
    • Exhibitions and drone shows on Guru Ji’s sacrifices
    • Special Session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha on November 24 with eminent speakers reflecting on Guru Ji’s legacy of religious freedom and human rights.
