Honoring Legacy: The Silver Coin for Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Martyrdom

New Delhi, October 31

In a solemn tribute to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Guru—the Sovereign of Martyrs, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji Maharaj—a 20-gram pure silver commemorative coin has been officially released by MMTC, a Government of India enterprise. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has been entrusted with the responsibility for this prestigious souvenir coin.

Announcing the release, DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka emphasized its profound significance: “This coin, issued in the revered name of Guru Sahib, will serve as a cherished souvenir for devotees in India and across the world. It will be available at government-fixed prices through MMTC outlets, DSGMC-managed religious stores, and at historic sites including Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi.”

Kalka described the coin not merely as a religious memento, but as a powerful symbol of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s supreme sacrifice and unyielding spiritual fortitude. “Just as pilgrims carry sacred tokens from holy sites back to their homes, this silver coin will act as an eternal emblem of Guru Sahib’s divine light and martyrdom, blessing every household that receives it.”
