Chandigarh/Pathankot, September 4,
The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stands in solidarity with the families who have lost loved ones in the devastating floods that have struck the state. This was stated by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Forest & Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak while handing over cheques of Rs. 4 lakh each as financial assistance to the families of four individuals who lost their lives in the floods. The event took place at the District Administrative Complex in Malikpur. A total of eight people lost their lives in the disaster.
The Minister highlighted that the floods have caused widespread destruction, damaging crops and livestock, and tragically claiming precious human lives. He emphasized that the Punjab Government is fully committed to providing all possible support to the affected families.
Providing further details, Kataruchak noted that eight families from Pathankot district have lost loved ones due to the floods. Of these, four families—those of Jagtar from village Attewal, Sahil from Dhangu Saraan, Keshav Kumar, and Reshma from Rajpura—received financial assistance today.

Pathankot has become the first district in Punjab to initiate this relief effort, and the Minister assured that financial aid for the families of the remaining four deceased individuals will be disbursed soon.
Among those present at the event were DC Aditya Uppal, SDM Pathankot Rakesh Meena, District Revenue Officer Pawan Kumar, Halqa Incharge Sujanpur Amit Mantu, and Block President Sandeep Kumar.
