Kotkapura Set to Host 12th State Girls’ Gatka Championship 2026 from May 1–3

The Gatka Association of Punjab, in collaboration with the Gatka Association District Faridkot, will organize the 12th State Gatka Championship 2026 for girls at Baba Farid Gurukul College, Kotkapura (District Faridkot), from May 1 to 3.

Sharing details, Advocate Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of the National Gatka Association of India, said the three-day event will bring together young players of this traditional Sikh martial art from across Punjab, promising an exciting display of skill, discipline, and heritage.

He informed that teams from all districts will arrive on May 1, while competitions will begin at 9:00 a.m. on May 2. The championship will conclude on May 3 with a closing ceremony attended by distinguished guests.

Sarbjit Singh, Vice President of the Gatka Association of Punjab, stated that the event will feature competitions in five age categories: Under-14, Under-17, Under-19, Under-22, and Under-25, providing a platform for girls at different stages to showcase their talent.

Dr. Manjit Singh Dillon, President of the District Gatka Association Faridkot, and Narinderpal Singh Paras, Convener of the championship, have urged all teams to submit their entries by April 26 (4:00 p.m.) to ensure proper arrangements for accommodation and meals.

Coaches Harsimran Singh and Sherry Singh added that medals and certificates will be awarded to winning teams as well as outstanding performers. They also confirmed that district-level preparations across Punjab are already underway.
