— Punjab Govt reaffirms commitment to universal, cashless healthcare up to ₹10 lakh per family with no income limits: Dr Balbir Singh

— Momentum builds for January 15 launch as top private hospitals engage actively with State Health Agency on MMSY empanelment

— Max, Fortis, Shalby, Livasa and others show keen enthusiasm to join the network for seamless rollout

CHANDIGARH, January 6

In a strategic step to bolster the network ahead of the flagship Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY) launch on January 15, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh today invited prominent private hospitals to empanel under the scheme and partner with the state government to deliver universal, high-quality, cashless healthcare to all residents.

The scheme, approved by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, will provide comprehensive cashless coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family annually — covering major illnesses, surgeries, critical care, diagnostics, medicines, pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses, and over 2,200 medical procedures — with no income restrictions or exclusions, making it truly universal for Punjab’s approximately 65 lakh families.

Dr Balbir Singh, accompanied by Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Kumar Rahul and State Health Agency (SHA) CEO Sanyam Aggarwal, chaired a high-level interactive meeting at the SHA office in Chandigarh with representatives from leading private healthcare institutions.

Reiterating the government’s vision, Dr Balbir Singh stated: “The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna is a transformative initiative to ensure no Punjabi family faces financial hardship due to medical expenses. With ₹10 lakh cashless cover for every household, we are building an inclusive, transparent healthcare ecosystem. The enthusiastic participation of private hospitals is essential to expand access across urban and rural areas.”

He stressed that the scheme’s design prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and beneficiary convenience, with empanelment processes streamlined to enable quick onboarding. Hospitals were urged to complete formalities promptly so residents can access services without out-of-pocket costs soon after the January 15 launch.

The meeting drew strong positive response from major players, including Max Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Shalby Hospital, and Livasa Hospital, among others. Representatives welcomed the government’s collaborative approach and people-first model, expressing keen interest in empanelment. Discussions addressed key operational aspects, such as approved treatment packages, empanelment procedures, cashless claim processes, and technical integration for seamless service delivery.

This outreach follows recent milestones, including the January 2 agreement with United India Insurance Company to implement the scheme, and ongoing efforts to expand the empanelled network (already exceeding 800 facilities, with many private inclusions).

The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna represents a major upgrade from prior limited coverage models, positioning Punjab as a pioneer in universal healthcare. With private sector enthusiasm and government commitment, the scheme is poised for successful, widespread implementation starting January 15, 2026.
