Punjab’s Cabinet Minister for Power, Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs, Sanjeev Arora, chaired a high-level review meeting in Ludhiana to evaluate the progress of critical infrastructure and civic development projects, emphasizing timely execution and enhanced urban aesthetics.
The Minister directed the Project Director (PD) of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to immediately initiate repairs of service lanes along national highways in Ludhiana, with the PD confirming a ₹150 crore allocation for maintenance work. Updates were shared on the construction of Vehicle Underpasses (VUPs) near the Jalandhar bypass.
To improve civic discipline and city beautification, Arora instructed the Municipal Corporation (MC) and Commissionerate Police to file FIRs against individuals defacing pillars of the Ludhiana-Ferozepur Elevated Highway, adopting a zero-tolerance stance. He further ordered the MC to promptly remove garbage and unclaimed vehicles from city roads to enhance urban cleanliness.
Arora reviewed key infrastructure projects, including the Halwara International Airport in coordination with the Airports Authority of India and district administration, alongside progress on the Ludhiana-Bathinda Highway, missing links on the Ludhiana-Kharar Highway, Ludhiana-Ropar connectivity, and parking facilities along the Elevated Highway.

The Minister assessed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) initiative to upgrade power infrastructure across 13 municipal corporations, covering 87 PSPCL subdivisions. A pilot project for Ludhiana’s Civil Lines Subdivision is set to open tenders on October 9, aiming to improve public safety and reduce power disruptions. Additionally, he reviewed ongoing projects in the Education, Health, and other key departments.
Arora urged the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, and the Zonal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, to expedite pending works under the MPLAD scheme. He reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment, under the leadership of Hon’ble National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to delivering world-class infrastructure and ensuring timely project completion.
Key officials present included Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, GLADA Additional Chief Administrator Ojsavi Alankar, ADC (Rural Development) Amarjit Bains, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, PD NHAI Priyanka Meena, Zonal Commissioner MCL Shekon, and representatives from the Deputy ESA office.
