Chandigarh, August 11
In alignment with the Punjab government’s commitment, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to deliver clean, transparent, and accountable governance, Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian distributed appointment letters to 504 newly recruited Patwaris today.
Speaking at the appointment letter distribution ceremony at Municipal Bhawan, Chandigarh, Hardeep Mundian announced that these Patwaris, having completed their mandatory 18-month training program, are now ready to serve as regular Patwaris in the field.
He noted that Chief Minister Mann had assigned districts to eligible candidates based on merit following the 2023 Revenue Patwari recruitment. As per regulations, the candidates underwent one year of training at Patwar Schools, followed by six months of field training.
To support the candidates during their training, 10 temporary Patwar Schools were established, staffed by experienced and retired PCS officers, District Revenue Officers, Tehsildars, Patwaris, and Kanungos, who served as Principals, Vice Principals, and Kanungo Teachers.
During their training, the Patwaris received comprehensive education in revenue computation, land records, surveying, record preparation, elections, settlement operations, agriculture, and computer applications. Specialized training was provided in election processes, focusing on voter list preparation, and in agriculture, covering Kharif and Rabi crops, pesticides, fertilizers, and crop seeds. Candidates also gained hands-on experience with the ILMS (Integrated Land Management System) software for tasks such as Jamabandi data entry, mutation recording, Roznamacha, Fard Badar, and related operations.
The Cabinet Minister highlighted that, following government directives, DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) equipment has been acquired to train all Patwaris in the state for demarcation work. Training on demarcation using this equipment is ongoing, alongside training for conducting revenue surveys through the Digital Crop Survey.
Mundian further informed that the departmental examination for eligible candidates was held from May 26, 2025, to June 3, 2025. A total of 504 candidates passed the examination and are now being deployed in the field after receiving their appointment letters.
The Cabinet Minister emphasized that these Patwaris have been appointed to provide clean, transparent, and accountable citizen-centric services. He expressed optimism that the recruitment of these young candidates will play a pivotal role in fostering a corruption-free society in the near future.
He also announced that recruitment for additional Patwari positions will be accelerated to provide more opportunities for Punjab’s youth to serve the state.
