National Awards to Teachers 2026: Applications Open, Teachers Can Apply Till July 10

The Union Ministry of Education has invited online applications for the National Awards to Teachers 2026, one of the country’s prestigious civilian honours for educators. The award aims to recognise and honour teachers who have shown exceptional commitment, innovation and dedication towards improving school education and shaping the future of students.
A spokesperson of the Punjab School Education Department informed that eligible teachers from Punjab can apply online through the official portal: http://nationalawardstoteachers.education.gov.in. All regular teachers, including school heads and in-charges, are eligible to apply. The last date for submitting applications is July 10, 2026.

After the completion of the registration process, the District Selection Committee will conduct the initial screening of applicants. The shortlisted candidates will then be reviewed by the State Selection Committee, which will recommend six nominations from Punjab to the Independent National Jury by July 31, 2026. The final selection of award recipients will be made by the National Jury.
The shortlisted teachers will be invited to present their achievements, innovative teaching methods and contributions before the Independent National Jury. Their presentations will highlight efforts towards improving learning outcomes, introducing creative teaching practices and promoting the overall development of students.
The teacher receiving the highest score based on the comprehensive evaluation criteria will be selected for the National Award to Teachers 2026.
