• Bhawanigarh-Sunam-Bhikhi-Kotshamir Road Renamed as ‘Shaheed Udham Singh Marg’, Announces Aman Arora

In a notable gesture to honor the legacy of Shaheed Udham Singh Ji and address the long-standing demand of the Kamboj community, the Punjab Government has announced a gazetted holiday on July 31st to mark the martyrdom day of the iconic freedom fighter, according to Aman Arora, AAP State President and Cabinet Minister, Punjab.
During a press conference held at Punjab Bhawan on Tuesday, Aman Arora revealed that the state government has also decided to rename the Bhawanigarh-Sunam-Bhikhi-Kotshamir road as “Shaheed Udham Singh Marg.” The Punjab Government will host a state-level event in Sunam, the birthplace of Shaheed Udham Singh, to observe his martyrdom day. AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will formally dedicate the road to Shaheed Udham Singh’s name during the event on July 31st.

Arora expressed his gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann for recognizing the legacy of Shaheed Udham Singh Ji, a revered freedom fighter who sought justice for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in London.
Additionally, Arora appealed to the Central Government to name the Patiala-Bhawanigarh road after Shaheed Udham Singh Ji. He noted that Chief Minister Mann is also raising this issue with the Union Government to pay a befitting tribute to the great revolutionary.
Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy and Punjab State BC Commission Chairman Dr. Malkiat Singh Thind expressed their heartfelt thanks to Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for fulfilling the Kamboj community’s long-pending demands. They praised Aman Arora’s persistent efforts in ensuring these demands were met, honoring the sacrifices of martyrs, and bringing pride to Punjab and India.
